Assistant Patrol Leader

General

·        The Assistant Patrol Leader reports to the Patrol Leader.

·        Patrol Leader is an important position requiring a minimum of 70% attendance.  If you are unable to perform a job function, it is your responsibility to find and designate a trained and qualified replacement, and to notify the Patrol Leader of the change before the date of that function.

·        As an important Troop position, you must meet the highest standards for attitude, attendance, and appearance.  You must exemplify the Scout Oath and Law.

·        You are responsible for assisting the patrol leader in controlling the performance of the group.  Enforce the discipline outlined by the Patrol Leaders Council.

Upon election

·        Identify the goals for your position and for your personal advancement.  These goals will be listed as short term, three months, and long term, six months.  The goals must be measurable, achievable and meaningful.

One Time

·        Be present at the Junior Leader Training planning conference.

Monthly

·        Ensure the Patrol Scribe has collected and submitted (Grubmaster, required Troop costs) the required funds for the Troop activity on the Monday prior to the activity.

·        Ensure the Patrol Scribe has submitted a list of participants to the Troop Scribe on the Monday Prior to the activity.

·        Ensure the Patrol Cheermaster has been assigned and has developed songs and skits for the Saturday night campfire.

·        Ensure the Patrol Quartermaster has determined the required patrol equipment for the troop activity on the Monday night prior to the activity.

·        Ensure the Patrol Quartermaster has verified the presence and operation of the equipment on the Monday night prior to the activity.

·        Remind the Patrol Quartermaster to be present at preload, and departure 15 minutes before the scheduled arrival time.[1]

Weekly

·        Ensure the Patrol Scribe conducts attendance and dues collections during patrol meetings.

As Needed

·        Assist the Patrol Leader in:

·         Planning and leading patrol meetings and activities.
·         Preparing the patrol to take part in all troop activities.
·          Developing patrol spirit.
·         Work with other patrol leaders to make the troop run well.
·         Know what patrol members and other leaders can do.  Use your resources!
