Troop Quartermaster

General

·        The Quartermaster reports to the Operations Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and coordinates with the adult Quartermaster.

·        Troop Quartermasters are a key position requiring a minimum of 70% attendance.  Due to the nature of your position, close to 100% attendance will be anticipated with few exceptions.  If you are unable to perform a job function, it is your responsibility to find and designate a trained and qualified replacement, and to notify the Operations Assistant Senior Patrol Leader of the change before the date of that function.

·        As a key Troop position, you must meet the highest standards for attitude, attendance and appearance.  You must exemplify the Scout Oath and Law.

·        If more than one Troop Quartermaster is appointed, the adult Quartermaster will designate a head Quartermaster who will be responsible to coordinate and direct the remaining assistant Quartermasters.

Upon election

·        Coordinate with previous Quartermaster to ensure completion of semi-annual Quartermaster inventory and field day.

·        Coordinate with new patrol Quartermasters to determine Troop, Patrol equipment or scout hut requirements.

·        Provide documentation for any missing or damaged troop or patrol equipment required to the Adult Quartermaster.

·        Provide Operations Assistant Senior Patrol Leader with schedule for troop/patrol equipment inventory and field day for inclusion on calendar.

 

·        Identify the goals for your position and for your personal advancement.  These goals will be listed as short term, three months, and long term, six months.  The goals must be measurable, achievable and meaningful.

One Time

·        Schedule and conduct semi-annual inventory of troop and patrol equipment approximately 6 weeks from end of term of office.  Submit a detailed, written list of Troop and Patrol equipment list to adult quartermaster/Troop Committee.  This list should detail a description of the property, quantities, to whom it is assigned (patrol) and present condition of each item. Coordinate with adult Quartermaster for support and materials.

·        Schedule and conduct semi-annual field day for maintenance and repair of troop and patrol equipment approximately 4 weeks from end of term of office.  Coordinate with adult Quartermaster for support and materials.

Monthly

·        Provide the Operations Assistant Senior Patrol Leader with a status report of troop inventories[1] prior to Patrol Leaders Council meeting.

·        On the meeting night prior to troop activity, identify troop equipment required.

·        On meeting night prior to troop activity, verify location and operation of identified troop equipment. Verify patrol Quartermasters are locating and verifying their equipment.  Utilizing the supplied Patrol Equipment box inventory sheets, conduct an inventory of the Patrol equipment boxes to ensure an accurate count of patrol equipment available for that activity. Retain a copy of each inventory. This will establish a baseline for the post-activity inventory performed prior to re-loading the equipment while on-site of that activity. Provide adult Quartermaster with written notice of equipment or materials that must be repaired or replaced.  As required, Patrol Quartermasters should provide to their Patrol Leader, a list of staples (foil, charcoal, paper towels, etc.) that are in short supply and would be required for that activity.

·        Be present 15 minutes early on preload night.

·        Be present 15 minutes early on departure night of troop activity.  Begin loading troop and patrol equipment upon arrival.

·        Utilizing the supplied Patrol Equipment box and Patrol Chuck box inventory sheets, conduct patrol equipment and chuck box inventory and inspection prior to reload after troop activity. Provide adult Quartermaster with written notice of equipment or materials that must be repaired or replaced.

·        Be present to coordinate and conduct the unload after all troop activities.

·        Report to Operations Assistant Senior Patrol Leader if unable to attend any of the listed functions.

As Needed

·        Suggest new or replacement items.

·        Issue equipment and see that it is returned in good order.

·        Keep equipment in good repair.

·        Maintain inventory records of patrol and troop equipment.



[1] The status report will indicate if an inventory is taking place at the troop and patrol levels and if items are being damaged or lost.
