Troop Scribe

General

·        The Troop Scribe reports to the Operations Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and coordinates with the Scribe Mentor.

·        Troop Scribe is a key position requiring a minimum of 70% attendance.  If you are unable to perform a job function, it is your responsibility to find and designate a trained and qualified replacement, and to notify the Operations Assistant Senior Patrol Leader of the change before the date of that function.

·        As a key Troop position, you must meet the highest standards for attitude, attendance, and appearance.  You must exemplify the Scout Oath and Law.

·        If more than one Scribe is appointed, the Scribe Mentor will designate a head Scribe who will be responsible to coordinate and direct the remaining assistant Scribes.

Upon election

·        Coordinate with previous Scribe to determine on going responsibilities.

·        Identify the goals for your position and for your personal advancement.  These goals will be listed as short term, three months, and long term, six months.  The goals must be measurable, achievable and meaningful.

Monthly

·        Compile a list for the outing participants from the Patrol Scribes.  Give the list to the Scoutmaster.

·        Arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to departure for troop activities.

·        Collect permission slips[1] and gas money.  Complete the camp log attendance forms.  Turn over money and permission slips to the designated adult leader, along with the camp log attendance form that shows who has paid for gas and has turned in permission slips.

·        Attend the Patrol Leaders Council Meetings, generally held at 6:00PM prior to the first Monday meeting.

·        Keep log of minutes for the Patrol Leaders’ Council meetings.

·        Post a monthly update of the “List of Shame”, onto the troop bulletin board.

Weekly

·        Receive logs and payments from Patrol Scribes.

·        Record attendance and dues payments.

·        Work with appropriate troop committee members responsible for finance, records, and advancement.
