Troop Librarian

General

·        The Troop Librarian reports to the Operations Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and coordinates with the Librarian Mentor.

·        Troop Librarian is an important position requiring a minimum of 70% attendance.  If you are unable to perform a job function, it is your responsibility to find and designate a trained and qualified replacement, and to notify the Operations Assistant Senior Patrol Leader of the change before the date of that function.

·        As an important Troop position, you must meet the highest standards for attitude, attendance, and appearance.  You must exemplify the Scout Oath and Law.

·        If more than one Librarian is appointed, the Librarian Mentor will designate a head Librarian who will be responsible to coordinate and direct the remaining assistant Librarians.

Upon election

·        Coordinate with previous Librarian to ensure that semi-annual inventory has been conducted on available resource material.  This inventory should be conducted one month before leaving office.

·        Identify the goals for your position and for your personal advancement.  These goals will be listed as short term, three months, and long term, six months.  The goals must be measurable, achievable and meaningful.

One Time

·        Conduct semi-annual inventory of available resource material one month before leaving office.

·        Develop, maintain, or enhance a binder containing a list of resources and reference material with their associated location.

·         Each resource materials should have a defined check out period, or in the case of reference materials, the conditions under which they may be reviewed.

Monthly

·        Provide the Operations Assistant Senior Patrol Leader with a report regarding changes in the resources available and the number of resources being used by the troop.

·        Post a list of overdue resources onto the Troop Bulletin board.

As needed

·        Establish and maintain the troop library.

·         Keep records on literature owned by the troop.
·         Add new or replacement items needed.
·         Have literature available for borrowing at troop meetings.
·         Keep system to check literature in and out.
·         Follow up on late returns.
