Troop Historian

The Troop Historian reports
to the Operations Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and coordinates with the Historian
Mentor.
·
Troop Historian is an important
position requiring a minimum of 70% attendance. If you are unable to perform a job function, it is your
responsibility to find and designate a trained and qualified replacement, and
to notify the Operations Assistant Senior Patrol Leader of the change before
the date of that function.
·
As an important Troop
position, you must meet the highest standards for attitude, attendance, and
appearance. You must exemplify the
Scout Oath and Law.
·
If more than one Historian is
appointed, the Historian Mentor will designate a head historian who will be
responsible to coordinate and direct the remaining assistant Historians.
Upon election
·
Clean and repair all trophy
wall items.
·
Suggest modifications to the
trophy wall. It is your responsibility to maintain and display our awards and memorabilia
effectively.
·
Gather pictures and
information to assist assigned Junior Assistant Scoutmaster in the development
of presentations.
·
Identify the goals for your
position and for your personal advancement.
These goals will be listed as short term, three months, and long term,
six months. The goals must be measurable,
achievable and meaningful.
One Time
·
Assist in the preparation for
the Troop Court of Honor:
·
Develop the Court of Honor plan four weeks in advance,
after coordinating with the Senior Patrol Leader, Advancement Chairman, and
Junior Assistant Scoutmasters. Provide
the Operations Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and Scoutmaster with a schedule of
the Court of Honor.
·
Ensure materials are gathered one week in advance. Rehearse color guard, opening, and closing ceremonies.
·
Meet ½ hour before Court of Honor to ensure all
materials are available.
Monthly
·
Maintain Troop camping log
detailing activity, participation, location, notable events, weather, and AES.
As needed
·
Maintain the troop log tracking the distinguished members
of the Order of the Newt and identifying new candidates.
